Fittings Gallery

Displays a variety of Fitting symbols commonly used on P&ID drawings.

Accessed from:

The following gallery displays which can be left floating or docked to the drawing area.

Placement

The majority of fittings simply require you to select the location on a pipe run for placement. The pipe run is automatically broken when placing the fitting and reconnected to the ends of the fitting.

The fittings listed in the table below require a more detailed placement procedure:

SettingDescription
Reducers When you place either the Concentric or Eccentric Reducer symbol on a Pipe run, the run is split and a new run is created on the reducing side. The Split Run dialog displays allowing you to define a new size and tag number for the reduced pipe run as well as other properties. After placement, annotation is automatically placed identifying reduction in pipe size.

How To

Pipe Tee

Inserted into a pipe run where a second run is branched off. If there is an existing branch run, the Tee will automatically align itself accordingly. If no branch currently exists, after placing the tee and determining the direction of the branch end, you will be prompted with the Properties dialog allowing you to define a tag number and size for the branch. Normal placement procedures apply after the run properties have been defined.

Note: If the Tag Dialog Prompt option is disabled in the PID Document dialog, a default tag number will be used for the branch run, and normal placement procedures will apply. You can edit the run via the Element Info dialog after it has been placed.

How To

Data Change Tee

When inserted into a pipe run, the pipe run is split into 2 separate runs. The Data Change Runs dialog displays listing the two pipe run segments. The original pipe run is identified by its tag number. Click on the new run to edit and press OK. The Component Properties dialog displays allowing you to enter a new tag number, change the size, etc. for the new run.

If a pipe run is not already defined at the branch end of the tee, you will be prompted with the Component Properties dialog to place one if desired. If you do not want to place the branch run at the time the tee is placed, Cancel out of dialog

If the Tag Dialog Prompt option is disabled in the PID Document dialog, a default tag number will be used for the branch run, and normal placement procedures will apply. You can edit the run via the Element Info dialog after it has been placed.

How To

Blind Flange Requires symbol placement and rotation.
Plug Requires symbol placement and mirror points.
Pipe Cap Places a cap symbol at the end of a Process Line to represent a capped Line. Pipe Cap symbols require insertion point and symbol rotation selection prior to placement.
